Environmental Safety Support Specialist (Safety)

What you will do

• Collect, sort, package, and ship hazardous waste across the healthcare system.
• Conduct hazardous materials and waste storage audits, environmental audits, and general hazard surveillance rounds.
• Collect sharps, hazardous pharmaceutical waste, non-hazardous waste, and laboratory and pharmacy waste.
• Distribute compressed gas cylinders and audit and package universal waste according to regulatory requirements.
• Provide physical support to the DECON team and maintain the requirements needed for team membership.
• Act as a backup hazardous waste coordinator and attend required training and committee meetings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of experience in an environmental-related field in healthcare or a similar environment preferred.
• Valid New Hampshire driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of infection control principles, bloodborne pathogens, and chemical safety.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
