EHS Specialist (Manufacturing Safety)

Location: Glasgow, Kentucky, USA. Onsite work in a manufacturing plant, with occasional travel to other facilities or training sites and schedule flexibility for multi-shift operations.

What you will do

• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across manufacturing facilities, equipment, processes, and work practices.
• Develop and maintain safety policies and programs covering lockout/tagout, machine guarding, hazard communication, confined spaces, and PPE.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near-misses, and complaints; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Design and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
• Maintain inspection, training, incident, audit, and compliance records and prepare management and regulatory reports.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, and management teams to improve safety performance and support compliance goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of progressive safety experience, preferably in manufacturing or an industrial environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards, including 29 CFR 1910 General Industry, HazCom/GHS, and manufacturing regulations.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing hazards, analytical and investigation skills, communication and training abilities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain Job Safety and Hazard Analyses and influence safety culture change.
• Ability to regularly walk, stand, climb stairs or ladders, and occasionally lift 25–50 lbs in a manufacturing environment.

Nice to have

• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification or ability to obtain it within the first six months.
• Certification as a forklift, aerial lift, or pallet jack trainer.
• NFPA 70E Trainer certification.
