R&D Intern (Adhesives and Coatings)

Location: Laboratory environment with exposure to a manufacturing floor; full-time onsite work, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week.

Term: January 4 to June 30, for a 6-month co-op placement.

Specialty materials manufacturer developing polymers, fibers, resins, filtration products, adhesives, coatings, and engineered solutions for industrial, medical, automotive, aerospace, healthcare, and sustainable packaging applications.

What you will do

• Support key R&D and site projects.
• Prepare and test industrial and medical adhesive coating samples.
• Support automotive and aerospace adhesive and coating work.
• Screen and analyze raw materials.
• Contribute to process optimization, continuous improvement, and product development trials under supervision.
• Perform product cost modeling, prepare presentations, maintain the laboratory workspace, and keep a lab notebook.

Requirements

• Working toward a degree in Paper Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• Laboratory experience and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
• Clear written communication, sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to research solutions independently.
• Availability for the full 6-month, 40-hour-per-week placement; summer courses cannot be taken during the work term.
