R&D Specialist (Advanced Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in El Segundo, California, United States. Extended hours and weekends may be required when experiments or equipment need monitoring.

Salary: $62,000–$82,000 for Level 2; $78,000–$105,000 for Level 3 / Senior, plus equity.

What you will do

• Maintain clean, organized, operational laboratory and production spaces.
• Execute test plans involving material formulation, testing, equipment configuration, and experimental processes.
• Operate and maintain 3D printers, mixers, analytical instruments, and other R&D equipment.
• Prepare materials, samples, and equipment for experiments and document results, observations, parameters, and deviations.
• Support engineers and scientists during experiments and process development, contributing observations to R&D decisions.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and support lab setup, maintenance, inventory, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, research, laboratory, testing, or R&D environments.
• Experience with laboratory, technical, production, or experimental equipment and the ability to follow detailed test plans and protocols.
• Strong documentation, communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Hands-on ability with laboratory tools such as analytical equipment, scales, or pipettes.
• Must be able to work onsite in El Segundo, California.
• Must meet U.S. Government export-control requirements and be eligible to work on ITAR-controlled projects.

Nice to have

• Wet-lab, materials testing, or materials formulation experience.
• Experience with powders, slurries, ceramics, polymers, resins, coatings, composites, metals, or other technical materials.
• Experience in cleanrooms, controlled manufacturing, additive manufacturing, aerospace, defense, metallurgy, chemicals, or battery materials.
• Experience troubleshooting complex equipment or supporting engineers, scientists, or technical teams.
