Senior Underwriter (Environmental)

Location: New York, United States; primarily in the office

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 base salary per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Communicate risk appetite and the North America Casualty value proposition to brokers.
• Collaborate with distribution, territory managers, and other underwriting teams to identify target accounts and cross-selling opportunities.
• Evaluate, prioritize, and select insurance submissions for underwriting.
• Analyze deal structures, negotiate pricing and coverage terms, and determine services that meet client needs.
• Build long-term broker and client relationships while growing a profitable book of business.
• Maintain risk selection in line with product guidelines, achieve rate, renewal retention, and new business goals, and mentor underwriters.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience with a commercial insurance company, agency, or brokerage.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Expertise in environmental casualty products, including Combined GL, Auto, Excess Liability, and CPL.
• Strong knowledge of coverage forms, regulatory frameworks, and risk evaluation.
• Demonstrated sales, marketing, relationship-building, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work primarily in the New York office.
