Environmental and Contractors Professional Underwriter

Location: New York City, United States; requires travel to in-person meetings with agents and brokers.

Salary: $109,300–$180,200 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of environmental liability business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts in line with risk appetite.
• Build relationships with internal partners, agents, and brokers to develop sales and cross-selling plans.
• Market and sell insurance products through regular meetings with external partners.
• Identify new business opportunities and execute agency and regional sales plans.
• Support the training and mentoring of less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least four years of relevant underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance experience.
• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, including environmental liability experience.
• Deep knowledge of environmental liability products, regulatory requirements, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and negotiation skills.
• CPCU designation.
