Associate Field Service Engineer (Flow Cytometry)

Location: Remote from California, with the candidate required to be located in Los Angeles or San Diego. The role is field-based in Southern California, includes travel to customer sites and occasional travel to Western Canada and other western regions, and includes remote technical troubleshooting from home when not traveling.

Salary: $55,000–$60,000 annualized base salary; paid hourly and eligible for overtime.

What you will do

• Train alongside Field Service Engineers during equipment installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs at customer sites.
• Assist with diagnosing technical issues involving flow cytometry instrumentation.
• Learn and follow service procedures, safety standards, technical documentation, and Field Service Report requirements.
• Develop practical knowledge of flow cytometry systems, including optics, fluidics, electronics, and pneumatics.
• Collaborate with Field Service, Sales, and Field Applications teams while supporting customer satisfaction and timely follow-up.
• Maintain service parts and inventory records, submit expense reports, and record weekly hours.

Requirements

• Must be located in Los Angeles or San Diego and able to support the Southern California region.
• Recent college graduate within the past six months with a two-year associate degree or preferably a four-year bachelor’s degree.
• Degree in engineering, biomedical engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering, life sciences, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization, communication, and customer-service skills.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, ability to travel overnight, and flexibility to adapt to schedule changes.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and hold a valid U.S. passport for potential travel to Canada.

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of flow cytometry or related scientific disciplines.
• Interest in field service, laboratory instrumentation, medical devices, biotechnology, or life science equipment.
