Senior Laboratory Manager (Clinical Laboratory)

Location: Tampa, Florida, United States; the role is performed onsite in a Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule.

What you will do

• Direct daily technical and non-technical operations for the diagnostics laboratory department.
• Manage staffing, production schedules, overtime, hiring, performance management, training, and employee development.
• Supervise, train, and mentor supervisors and departmental staff.
• Maintain service levels and turnaround-time metrics while resolving client and operational issues.
• Develop and implement laboratory procedures, equipment installations, and testing methods.
• Investigate procedural deviations, coordinate corrective actions, and maintain technical knowledge across laboratory testing areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology; applicable non-traditional degrees with sufficient science credits may qualify under CLIA standards.
• At least 5 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License required.
• At least 5 years of experience supervising or leading a team and managing people leaders.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations, CLIA, CAP, relevant state regulations, and high-volume laboratory environments.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, computer, and laboratory information systems skills; ability to meet physical requirements and pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice to have

• ASCP or AMT certification.
