Histotechnologist II

Location: Onsite positions in Torrance, California; Phoenix, Arizona; and San Diego, California, United States. Work schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.

Pay range: $25–$39.38 per hour. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available; internal employees are not eligible.

What you will do

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination.
• Orient and embed surgical specimens, section embedded tissue with a microtome, and mount sections on microscope slides.
• Perform immunohistochemical, routine, and special staining procedures, including preparation of stains and reagents.
• Operate and maintain manual and automated laboratory instruments and document equipment maintenance.
• Record equipment logs, perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures, and follow laboratory policies.
• Report accurate and timely results, document testing issues, and perform corrective actions when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or an applicable non-traditional degree meeting CLIA and state requirements.
• Two years of clinical histology laboratory testing experience.
• HTL or HT ASCP licensing.
• Experience embedding large and small specimens, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems, along with strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and pass a standardized color blindness test; flexibility to work overtime or other shifts may be required.

Nice to have

• Two years of immunohistochemistry testing, sectioning, and embedding experience.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
