Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Core Chemistry

Location: Birmingham, Alabama, United States; other listed locations include Mobile, Alabama, and Brentwood and Knoxville, Tennessee. On-site laboratory work is required.

What you will do

• Assess specimen acceptability and assist with specimen processing.
• Perform routine and complex clinical laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents and controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Complete preventative maintenance, quality control, documentation, and laboratory supply replenishment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or an MLS degree.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience, unless qualifying through an MLS degree.
• Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, communicate effectively, maintain attention to detail, and meet the physical requirements of the role.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test and work overtime or other shifts when needed.

Nice to have

• At least three months of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Non-traditional degree with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards.
