Drug Manufacturing Technician (Laboratory Specimen Processor)

Location: Onsite at 1111 Newton Street, Gretna, LA 70053, United States

Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts. Temporary-to-permanent employment; two openings.

Toxicology laboratory supporting specimen analysis and confirmation testing under applicable laboratory and regulatory procedures.

What you will do

• Retrieve presumptive-positive specimens, prepare aliquots for confirmation testing, and arrange samples in the required order.
• Store positive specimens in designated refrigerator and freezer areas and retrieve frozen specimens for repeat aliquoting.
• Receive and open specimens, review acceptability, and document chain-of-custody forms.
• Dispose of specimens according to laboratory procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Protect donor confidentiality and follow security procedures, laboratory policies, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems and other laboratory computer systems.
• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Strong understanding of SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, and other applicable certification requirements.
• Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures, federal guidelines under 49 CFR Part 40, and CAP-FUDT guidelines.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, perform full-body movements, and work around refrigerated and potentially hazardous materials.
