Senior Director, Policy Communications

Location: Washington, DC or San Mateo, CA; hybrid attendance required Tuesday through Thursday, with optional office presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $294,030–$350,620 USD per year base pay, plus equity compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead global corporate positioning, public affairs communications, and crisis management.
• Advise product, public policy, legal, international expansion, and Trust & Safety teams on media and public communications.
• Develop proactive and reactive communications strategies on regulatory issues, legislation, trust, safety, and civility.
• Create campaigns and materials including press releases, blogs, FAQs, key messages, and web content.
• Build relationships with journalists, commentators, policymakers, influencers, and other opinion formers.
• Brief spokespeople, support interviews, counter misinformation, and manage high-profile or sensitive issues.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in public affairs, policy communications, and crisis communications.
• Understanding of consumer technology, social media, online safety, content enforcement, and privacy policies.
• Experience with global regulations and policies affecting users and creators across diverse age ranges.
• Track record of developing and implementing corporate communications plans across internal, external, and partner audiences.
• Strong relationships with technology, policy, and business journalists and influencers.
• Experience serving as an on-the-record spokesperson on complex policy or legal topics.
