Director of Government Affairs, SLED (Digital Identity)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States. This is a full-time, in-office role, five days per week.

Annual base salary: $163,000–$209,000 USD, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and execute state government affairs strategies supporting revenue objectives across key states and political parties.
• Represent hirify.global before state legislatures, executive agencies, regulatory authorities, and state-based stakeholders.
• Build operational plans for the state government affairs function in alignment with Government Affairs and public-sector go-to-market goals.
• Manage external state lobbying consultants and oversee state trade association participation and political engagement.
• Monitor legislation, regulations, and political trends involving digital identity, data privacy, and fraud prevention.
• Prepare policy recommendations, position papers, legislative testimony, and briefings for senior leadership, product, and SLED sales teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5–7 years of experience in state government affairs, public policy, legislative service, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in state legislative and regulatory processes, with proven success advancing state-level policy priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior leadership.
• Excellent relationship-building and coalition-management skills across political lines.
• Ability to manage multiple states, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice to have

• Experience in digital government, identity, cybersecurity, or public-sector technology policy.
