Core Lab Supervisor (Clinical Laboratory)

Location: Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Work is performed onsite on evening or overnight shifts, Monday through Friday, with variable weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts.

What you will do

• Supervise daily operations and workflow in the core laboratory department.
• Perform bench work and maintain technical proficiency and competency.
• Ensure accurate and timely laboratory testing and results reporting.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and coach laboratory personnel.
• Coordinate staffing, assay coverage, quality control, quality assurance records, and equipment maintenance.
• Investigate production errors, implement process improvements, and manage department policies, payroll, and personnel records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician.
• TN Laboratory Supervisor License or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations.
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organizational, decision-making, and attention-to-detail skills; ability to meet the physical requirements and pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice to have

• At least 1 year of experience supervising or leading a team.
• At least 3 years of experience as an MLS or MLT generalist.
