System Software Engineering - PhD Intern

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States; 3-month summer internship in 2027. The role follows a hybrid work model with on-site work at the assigned hirify.global site.

Annual salary range: $149,598–$149,602 USD.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and validate system software across firmware, drivers, operating systems, and middleware.
• Collaborate on cross-stack software optimization for platforms and technologies.
• Contribute to reference platform development for targeted domains and market segments.
• Explore new methodologies and solutions through hands-on system software engineering projects.
• Apply technical knowledge while developing software engineering skills in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics.
• At least one year of programming experience in C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Availability for a 3-month internship during Summer 2027 in Hillsboro, Oregon.
• A GPA of 3.5 or higher is preferred.

Nice to have

• Project experience in computational geometry.
• Experience with artificial hirify.globalligence or machine learning.
• Experience with numerical optimization or scientific computing.
