Senior Writer/Editor (Technical Writing)

Location: Remote within the United States; availability required during hours aligned with the client team on the East Coast.

Salary: $61,232–$104,094 annually.

What you will do

• Research and write feature articles, technical reports, white papers, newsletters, and other technical communications.
• Translate complex engineering, research, and technical information into clear content for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Edit, rephrase, and rewrite print and electronic materials to improve structure, clarity, grammar, formatting, and coherence.
• Conduct subject matter expert interviews, fact-checking, reference checking, and data verification.
• Manage documents from initial development through final publication, including version control and multiple review cycles.
• Ensure accurate integration of tables, schematics, references, and supporting information.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, communications, journalism, a scientific or technical discipline, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, and publishing.
• Experience researching technical subjects, interviewing experts, verifying facts and references, and communicating complex information clearly.
• 5–10 years of experience applying major style guides and editorial standards, including Section 508 compliance.
• Ability to work remotely from within the United States and align working hours with the East Coast client team.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree or specialized training in editorial standards or transportation research.
• Experience in transportation, highway, or surface transportation research.
