Technical Writer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote - Canada

Annual base salary: CA$107,000–CA$133,200, excluding discretionary bonus; equity and bonus opportunities are available.

What you will do

• Own and standardize the knowledge base, including the documentation style guide, article templates, publishing workflow, and governance model.
• Rewrite approximately 150 stale, incomplete, or empty articles using internal documentation, SME interviews, and validated support ticket data.
• Create approximately 100 new articles covering troubleshooting, client lifecycle, billing workflows, MSP management, and compliance guidance.
• Build persona-aligned information architecture and map the end-to-end customer journey through the content.
• Structure documentation for AI-assisted and agentic support through atomic topics, explicit prerequisites and outcomes, metadata, tagging, and retrieval-focused content.
• Validate procedures against the live product, align documentation with product releases, and use analytics to improve ticket deflection and time-to-resolution.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional technical writing experience, including ownership of a customer-facing knowledge base or help center at scale.
• Experience leading a structured content overhaul involving audits, information architecture, style guides, templates, and high-volume rewrites.
• Strong knowledge of documented style guides, topic-based authoring, and structured content principles.
• Experience collaborating directly with technical SMEs and producing accurate procedural content from interviews, internal documentation, and support data.
• Experience writing for cybersecurity, IT operations, MSP/MSSP, or enterprise SaaS audiences.
• Working knowledge of knowledge base platforms, Markdown, Git-based documentation workflows, content analytics, and support data prioritization; excellent written English required.

Nice to have

• Experience documenting MDR, EDR, SIEM, managed security services, or MSP operations.
• Experience preparing content for AI-assisted support, RAG retrieval, or agentic workflows, including chunking, metadata, and retrieval-quality evaluation.
• Familiarity with CIS, NIST, SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, or Essential Eight frameworks.
• Experience with API and integration documentation, diagrams, screenshots, or walkthrough videos.
