Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Onsite at Ascension St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. The posting also lists locations in Saint Johns, Middleburg, Pensacola, and Pell City. Work schedule: Thursday through Sunday, 8:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.

Sign-on bonus: $10,000 for external candidates only.

What you will do

• Evaluate specimen acceptability according to established criteria and assist with specimen processing.
• Perform routine and complex technical laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents and controls.
• Report accurate results, perform preventive maintenance and quality control, and maintain testing supplies and a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or an MLS degree.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience, unless qualifying through an MLS degree.
• Florida Medical Technologist license required.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems, computer proficiency, and ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs.

Nice to have

• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Non-traditional degree with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards.
