Lead Electrical Energy Engineer (Decarbonization and Electrification Programs)

Location: Remote position based in the Los Angeles Metro area, California, United States. Requires up to 30% local travel within Southern California for site visits, meetings, and events; a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license are required.

Salary: $130,687–$222,169 annually.

What you will do

• Lead electrical engineering oversight for California decarbonization, electrification, energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy, EVSE, and distributed energy resource programs.
• Review proposals, contracts, statements of work, staffing plans, and engineering deliverables for compliance with California Energy Code, local authority having jurisdiction codes, and company policies.
• Perform technical analysis, advanced engineering calculations, conceptual design, utility interconnection analysis, energy savings estimation, and cost-effectiveness assessments.
• Prepare reports documenting existing power system conditions, proposed designs, project costs, savings, and as-built operating conditions.
• Develop custom decarbonization and DER projects for public-sector facilities in Southern California, including field audits and customer coordination.
• Coordinate customers, vendors, subcontractors, outreach staff, and internal stakeholders to support project implementation and timely, on-budget delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent related experience.
• Current professional electrical engineering license in California.
• 8+ years of electrical engineering or related experience in California.
• 5+ years as lead designer of building power systems, including design QA/QC and engineer-of-record responsibilities.
• 2+ years developing energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, or related projects.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Nice to have

• Advanced electrical engineering degree and professional engineering licenses in additional states.
• Experience with California Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, Title 20, Title 24, CalGreen, and California DSM programs.
• Experience with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM360.
• Experience with decarbonization, renewables, EVSE charging analysis or design, building interconnection, and California utility interconnection processes.
• Certified Energy Manager credential, ASHRAE Level 1–3 audit experience, or familiarity with building and industrial controls.
