Histotechnician

Location: San Diego, California, United States; additional listed locations include Phoenix, Arizona, and Torrance, California. Onsite schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Salary: $36.00–$41.00 per hour, plus shift differential.

What you will do

• Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination.
• Produce histopathological slides by embedding tissue, sectioning it with a microtome, mounting sections, and performing routine and special staining.
• Perform immunohistochemical testing on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
• Prepare stains and reagents, operate and maintain manual and automated laboratory instruments, and document equipment logs.
• Perform preventive maintenance, quality control procedures, and corrective actions when test performance may be affected.
• Record accurate and timely test results while following specimen-handling, processing, analysis, reporting, and laboratory quality procedures.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in Histology, or a high school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of histology experience.
• Familiarity with routine histology procedures, laboratory equipment, SOPs, and safety protocols.
• Experience with immunohistochemistry and embedding both large and small specimens.
• Ability to read labels and documents accurately and work with strong organization and attention to detail.
• Experience in a high-volume laboratory environment.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice to have

• Two years of experience as a histotechnician.
• Histology and/or ASCP certification.
• Current or prior hirify.global experience.
