Clinical Laboratory Technologist Trainee – Histology

Location: Onsite positions in Shelton, Connecticut; Lawrenceville, New Jersey; Baltimore, Maryland; Holyoke and Melrose, Massachusetts; and Petersburg, Virginia, United States. Work schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 6:00 p.m.–2:30 a.m.

What you will do

• Perform grossing procedures to process and submit tissue specimens for microscopic review under pathologist supervision.
• Operate and maintain tissue processors, embedding units, cryostats, H&E and special-stain equipment, IHC stainers, and cover-slipping units.
• Prepare recuts, organize slides, compile pathology cases, and complete quality-control checks.
• Scan cases to pathology, maintain logbooks, locate specimens, file paraffin blocks, and archive laboratory documents.
• Prepare and discard chemical reagents, perform laboratory safety checks, and handle chemicals including xylene, alcohols, and formaldehyde.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Computer proficiency; familiarity with laboratory information systems is helpful.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen and work overtime or other shifts when required.
• New graduates are welcome; full training is provided.

Nice to have

• Three months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
