TL;DR
Head Start Program Support Specialist (Early Childhood Grants): Supporting federal Head Start and Early Head Start grant management, monitoring, compliance documentation, and data-driven program administration with an accent on application review, funding recommendations, and oversight reporting. Focus on analyzing grant data, documenting compliance issues, preparing monitoring materials, and coordinating corrective action follow-up.

Location: Remote within the United States; California Remote Office (CA99). Ability to travel up to 25% is required.

Salary: $73,770–$125,408 per year.

What you will do

  • Support review and documentation of Head Start and Early Head Start grant applications, supplemental funding requests, budget modifications, waivers, and post-award activities.
  • Review applications for completeness, compliance with federal regulations, and alignment with Office of Head Start policies.
  • Document analyses, recommendations, and communications in federal systems including HSES and GrantSolutions.
  • Support grant oversight through analysis of enrollment data, performance reports, monitoring findings, corrective action plans, and recipient correspondence.
  • Assist with pre-review planning, monitoring preparation, post-review documentation, and follow-up on programmatic or compliance issues.
  • Collect, aggregate, and analyze data and contribute to guidance, technical assistance materials, reporting, and national program initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, human services, public administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience supporting early childhood programs; Head Start or Early Head Start experience is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience using web-based data management or tracking systems.
  • At least 1 year of experience in federal monitoring, fiscal management, facilities, child health and safety, enrollment initiatives, changes in scope, or related early childhood program oversight.
  • US government-issued security clearance is required and will be initiated upon hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check are required.

  • Working knowledge of early childhood programs and federal grants processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written, verbal communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaborative tools.
