Energy Engineer

Location: Remote position based in Houston, Texas, United States, with up to 30% local and regional travel for site visits and client meetings

Salary: $74,090.00–$125,954.00 annually

What you will do

• Support engineering reviews of energy savings calculations for HVAC, building automation controls, lighting, motors, process equipment, and other technologies.
• Evaluate building baselines, energy performance, feasibility of efficiency measures, and emerging technologies for utility programs.
• Prepare and review measurement and verification plans, energy savings documentation, spreadsheet calculations, and regression models.
• Conduct on-site energy assessments of commercial and industrial facilities and identify cost-effective upgrades.
• Provide technical information to customers, contractors, building managers, and internal teams regarding program requirements and energy calculations.
• Coordinate assigned work, maintain organized project files, and deliver client-ready documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, energy, environmental, renewable, or sustainable engineering; related experience may substitute for education.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in energy efficiency engineering, building systems, utility programs, ESCOs, facility engineering, or related fields.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records check.
• Ability to analyze energy savings, building systems, technical documentation, and data while managing multiple assignments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.

Nice to have

• Engineer-in-Training or Certified Energy Manager certification, or interest in pursuing a relevant credential.
• Experience with AMI data, regression modeling, energy modeling tools, or utility energy savings calculations.
• Knowledge of IECC, LEED, WELL, the Texas Technical Resource Manual, IPMVP, ASHRAE Guideline 14, or ASHRAE 211.
• Experience with HVAC, lighting, motors, building automation systems, industrial processes, data centers, or utility incentive programs.
