Energy and Sustainability Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Crystal City/Arlington, Virginia, United States

Salary: $83,000–$85,000 base annually; broader full-time pay range: $81,147–$137,949

What you will do

• Develop and implement program strategies for energy efficiency, decarbonization, and emerging technology initiatives.
• Prepare research, analysis, persuasive presentations, white papers, reports, fact sheets, and briefings.
• Coordinate with government, utility, manufacturing, industry, and sustainability stakeholders.
• Analyze energy and performance data using spreadsheets, databases, and basic programming.
• Evaluate energy-efficient consumer products, building technologies, and market transformation opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in climate, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, computer, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to represent the team in client-facing roles and manage stakeholder or vendor interactions.
• Ability to work collaboratively, take ownership, prioritize tasks, and protect confidential information.

Nice to have

• Manufacturer or industry experience.
• Master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Experience with public-private partnership market transformation programs.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, thermal processes, data center infrastructure, or building technologies.
• Advanced Excel and database skills, basic programming, or product and test method development experience.
