Principal Engineer, HVAC, Mechanical, and Sustainability

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States. Site-based and full-time onsite; not eligible for remote work. Due to export control requirements, only U.S. persons—citizens, permanent residents, asylees, or refugees—are eligible.

Salary: $142,500–$256,500 per year, with potential eligibility for discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Lead the design and optimization of HVAC and mechanical systems for critical facilities, laboratories, and capital projects.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for HVAC, mechanical engineering, sustainability, energy performance, and complex technical challenges.
• Oversee design, construction, and operational readiness for clinical and commercial facilities, including international sites.
• Standardize engineering practices and integrate renewable energy, efficient HVAC designs, and LEED or WELL principles.
• Monitor energy performance and implement improvements that reduce environmental impact and operating costs.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, support compliance investigations and CAPAs, and advise senior leadership and business development teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of HVAC and mechanical engineering experience with a strong sustainability focus.
• Deep knowledge of HVAC and mechanical system design, construction, and operations, including large-scale international projects.
• Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification required; knowledge of FDA, EMA, ICH, GxP/GMP, and green building requirements.
• Strong leadership, project management, analytical, decision-making, communication, and stakeholder-influence skills.
• Must work full-time at the Norwood site and qualify as a U.S. person; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
