TL;DR
IS Security Specialist (Cybersecurity/Network Security): Monitoring security events, supporting incident response, and protecting the systems and networks that support electric grid operations with an accent on critical infrastructure security, risk management, and operational reliability. Focus on developing security tools, analyzing incidents, managing access, and resolving complex network and system issues in a 24/7 operations environment.
Location: On-site at an SCE facility or field location, primarily Alhambra, California, with possible extended assignments in Irvine, California. The schedule is four 10-hour days per week. Relocation does not apply.
Salary: $101,900–$152,800 per year.

What you will do
- Monitor security events and implement measures protecting computer systems, networks, and information.
- Support incident response, troubleshooting, debugging, outage management, and root cause analysis.
- Coordinate user access provisioning, periodic reviews, and access removal across internal and third-party systems.
- Develop security tools and technical solutions that mitigate vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
- Perform risk analysis and prepare security reports, operating procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and operations teams to protect electric grid systems.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience in information technology, information security, or cybersecurity.
- Experience with incident response, risk management, network monitoring, event management, or operational technology environments.
- Knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, and network security practices.
- Ability to make independent operational decisions during routine and emergency situations.
- Ability to work on-site on a four-day, 10-hour schedule.
- Successful completion of a NERC/CIP personnel risk assessment or background investigation is required before hiring.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in a 24/7 NOC, SOC, telecommunications operations center, utility, critical infrastructure, or enterprise technology environment.
- CCNA, CCNP, Nokia NRS, Palo Alto PCCET, PCNSA, PCNSE, or equivalent certifications.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and critical infrastructure protection principles.
