IR Specialist (Cybersecurity)

Location: Arlington, Virginia, United States; must be able to work collaboratively across physical locations.

Salary: $77,000–$163,000 per year, based on qualifications, experience, and expertise.

What you will do

• Perform initial triage and assessment of cyber threat tickets, incident reports, and IOC submissions.
• Analyze IP addresses, domains, file hashes, network traffic patterns, malware artifacts, and other technical data.
• Assess threat severity, credibility, and potential impact on critical infrastructure sectors.
• Enrich indicators using threat intelligence platforms, OSINT, and government resources.
• Prepare triage reports, recommend escalation or further analysis, and route tickets to JCDC, CISA, and interagency partners.
• Coordinate with analysts and liaisons, maintain ticket documentation, participate in shift handoffs, and support triage playbooks and operational briefings.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required.
• Must be able to obtain DHS suitability.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in threat intelligence, SOC operations, or cyber incident response.
• Experience independently researching cyber activity, evaluating available information, identifying analytical gaps, and developing defensible conclusions.
• Ability to collaborate across physical locations and coordinate with government and private-sector partners.

Nice to have

• Federal cybersecurity experience with CISA, FBI, NSA, DoD, or similar organizations.
• Knowledge of CISA NCISS, attack stages, vulnerabilities, computer network defense policies, and operational threat environments.
• Experience with SIEM platforms, threat intelligence platforms, and ticketing systems.
• Knowledge of critical infrastructure sectors and DHS/CISA products and services.
• Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA, or similar certification.
