TL;DR
Senior Analyst, Strategy and Economic Analysis (Energy Transmission): Supporting early-stage electric transmission projects through market simulation modeling, data analysis, and industry research with an accent on ISO-NE market analysis, transmission planning, and clean energy policy. Focus on developing PLEXOS models, analyzing complex simulation results, and informing transmission strategies that enable clean energy growth and regional decarbonization.

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States; hybrid schedule with at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Must be available to work up to five days in the office when required and travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire as necessary.

Annual salary: $107,170–$119,080, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

  • Support early-stage development of strategic electric transmission projects and initiatives.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, document, and maintain zonal and nodal energy market and capacity expansion models in PLEXOS.
  • Prepare data inputs, process simulation outputs, analyze results, and create supporting graphs and documentation.
  • Research policies and studies influencing transmission growth, modeling assumptions, and clean energy initiatives.
  • Provide data, simulation outputs, and transmission expertise to internal groups.
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to support clean energy deployment and regional decarbonization goals.

Requirements

  • Five to eight years of related experience, including significant experience in energy market analysis, energy contract negotiation, power system modeling, transmission planning, or transmission policy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, a related discipline, or four years of equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of ISO-NE wholesale markets or transmission planning procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel functions such as lookups, pivot tables, and Power Query.
  • Immigration-related visa sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring sponsorship to start employment will not be considered.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PLEXOS, Gridview, PROMOD, or comparable electric production cost modeling tools.
  • Experience with power system analysis software such as PSS/E, TARA, PowerWorld, or ASPEN OneLiner.
  • Knowledge of clean energy procurements and FERC interconnection and transmission planning reforms.
  • Experience with Power BI, Python for web scraping and APIs, data visualization, or geographic information systems.
