TL;DR
Analyst, Strategy and Economics (Transmission): Supporting electricity market simulation modeling, power-sector carbon emissions analysis, and transmission research with an accent on production cost modeling, capacity expansion modeling, and historical data analysis. Focus on developing carbon-flow modeling software, analyzing clean-energy policies, and solving complex data and economic modeling challenges for New England transmission planning.

Location: Hartford, CT, United States; hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Must be available for travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire approximately monthly, occasional travel to Washington, DC, and emergency restoration assignments outside normal work hours and location.

Annual salary: $89,480–$99,420, plus potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

  • Support economic analysis focused on production cost and capacity expansion modeling.
  • Research, analyze, and document power-sector modeling assumptions and simulation results.
  • Track, report, and estimate power-sector carbon emissions using simulation models and historical data.
  • Support the development, testing, and implementation of carbon-flow modeling software.
  • Conduct research and ad hoc data analysis for internal groups.
  • Track federal and state clean-energy policies and transmission development opportunities; prepare reports, presentations, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of ISO New England wholesale electricity markets or transmission planning procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel functions such as lookups, pivot tables, and Power Query.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Economics, Finance, or equivalent combined education and experience.
  • 3–5 years of related experience.
  • Eversource does not provide immigration-related visa sponsorship; applicants must already have authorization to start employment in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Experience with production cost modeling tools such as PLEXOS, Gridview, or PROMOD.
  • Experience with power-system analysis software such as PSS/E, TARA, PowerWorld, or ASPEN OneLiner.
  • Experience with Python for web scraping, data analysis, data transformation, and API integration.
