Senior Engineer, ISO Policy and Economic Analysis, Transmission (Electric Power)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States; hybrid schedule with at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Employees must be able to work up to five days in the office when required and travel approximately monthly between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire, with occasional travel to Washington, DC and emergency restoration assignments.

Salary: $129,450–$143,830 annually, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Perform power-flow, economic capacity-expansion, production-cost, and probabilistic modeling of the New England electricity system.
• Analyze transmission projects, project proposals, resource interconnections, and the operational and economic effects of clean energy resources.
• Prepare data, reports, presentations, compliance filings, visualizations, research, and advocacy materials for ISO New England and other stakeholders.
• Evaluate federal, regional, and state policy proposals and develop recommended policy positions with internal stakeholders.
• Represent Eversource in NEPOOL committees, trade associations, state and federal forums, and potentially as an expert witness.
• Lead cross-functional teams, oversee consultants, improve data and reporting processes, and support external stakeholder outreach.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required; master’s degree in engineering preferred.
• 5–8 years of related experience.
• Experience with PSS/E, TARA, ProMod, and PLEXOS or comparable engineering and economic modeling tools; PLEXOS experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of New England transmission systems, ISO/RTO processes, transmission planning, interconnection, operations, utility regulation, economic theory, and wholesale electricity markets.
• Ability to write and edit programs that manage data flows into and outputs from engineering and economic simulation models.
• Visa or immigration sponsorship is not available; applicants must already have authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience testifying in state or federal regulatory proceedings.
• Master’s degree in engineering.
