Energy Consultant for Interconnection (Power Systems)

Location: Remote within the United States; Reston, Virginia preferred

Salary: $74,090–$125,954 annually

What you will do

• Prepare, validate, submit, and track Interconnection Applications and resolve application deficiencies.
• Track application milestones, study phases, schedules, data requests, and related documentation.
• Perform technical analyses supporting generator and load interconnection and transmission planning studies.
• Support power flow modeling and simulation under the guidance of senior team members.
• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, presentations, and data summaries for clients.
• Coordinate with internal project teams across multiple consulting engagements and monitor North American interconnection rules and regulatory developments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Management, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in the North American electric power sector, or strong academic exposure to power systems, transmission, or interconnection.
• Experience using power system modeling tools such as PSCAD, PSS®E, PowerWorld, PSLF, or TARA.
• Knowledge of transmission planning, power flow analysis, and grid operations concepts.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, written communication, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice to have

• Experience preparing or coordinating Interconnection Applications and studies.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Four or more years of experience in power markets or transmission consulting.
• Experience with renewable developers, transmission utilities, or related stakeholders.
• Advanced MS Office and data analysis skills.
