Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Onsite at Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital – Franklin Campus in Franklin, Wisconsin, with listed locations in Milwaukee and Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and Rochester, Southfield, Warren, and Detroit, Michigan, United States.

What you will do

• Determine specimen acceptability and assist with specimen processing.
• Perform routine and complex technical testing according to standard operating procedures.
• Monitor, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions, solve testing problems, and evaluate new reagents and controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance, quality control, supply replenishment, and required safety procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or an MLS degree.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience, unless an MLS degree satisfies the requirement.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and proficiency with computers.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test and work overtime or other shifts when required.

Nice to have

• At least one year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist generalist.
• At least one year of blood bank experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement.
