Reporter (Arts and Entertainment)

Location: Remote, but candidates must reside in the greater Boulder/Longmont, Colorado area. The role includes occasional driving for assignments, in-person training, and meetings, as well as shift work outside normal business hours.

Salary: $19.00–$20.00 per hour, plus a cell phone stipend.

What you will do

• Cover Boulder County’s arts and entertainment scene, including restaurants, cultural trends, and local personalities.
• Lead coverage of the Sundance Film Festival in Boulder, reporting on films, filmmakers, festival events, and local impact.
• Develop sources and relationships to break news and produce authoritative local coverage.
• Write deeply reported enterprise features and regular quick-turn news stories.
• Use audience needs and internal metrics to create relevant content.
• Balance multiple projects, long-term reporting, and daily story development.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of the journalistic process.
• At least two years of relevant experience at a media company.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong interviewing skills and knowledge of AP style.
• Basic photography skills.
• Residence in the greater Boulder/Longmont, Colorado area, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation are required.
