What you will do

• Manage the news list and publication schedule for three weekday stories, including assignments, deadlines, and publication dates.
• Report, write, edit, and sub-edit news stories covering healthcare IT and NHS digitisation.
• Line-manage the news reporter, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development.
• Source stories, build contacts, assign work, and maintain relationships with editorial colleagues and industry contacts.
• Publish content and images in WordPress, manage tagging and scheduling, and promote content through social media and newsletters.
• Support the Digital Health podcast, non-news editorial projects, and representation at conferences, meetings, and press conferences.

Requirements

• Superior writing and editing skills with strong news judgement gained in journalism, communications, or content roles.
• Excellent organisation and scheduling skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Ability to edit copy quickly and accurately, correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, house style, and factual issues.
• Experience maintaining communication with colleagues remotely and providing constructive editorial feedback.
• Ability to build working relationships through virtual and face-to-face meetings.
• Interest in healthcare and IT, with a willingness to develop sector knowledge and professional contacts.

Nice to have

• Formal line-management, informal management, or mentorship experience.
• Experience using content management systems, including WordPress.
• Experience producing features, opinion pieces, commercially backed content, or work covering complex sectors.
• Knowledge or experience in healthcare and/or IT.
