TL;DR
Senior Technical Manual Lifecycle Management (TMLCM) Specialist (Military Aviation): Developing and sustaining military technical manuals and interactive electronic technical publications for the Improved Turbine Engine Program with an accent on XML/SGML authoring, engineering data interpretation, and configuration control. Focus on validating maintenance procedures, incorporating engineering changes, and coordinating technical publication reviews for Army aviation systems.

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; travel up to 25% within the United States.

What you will do

  • Develop, revise, validate, verify, and sustain military technical manuals, operator manuals, maintenance manuals, RPSTLs, and IETMs.
  • Translate engineering drawings, logistics data, maintenance requirements, and technical data packages into accurate operating, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain structured technical content using XML, SGML, DTDs, schemas, Arbortext Editor, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Incorporate Engineering Change Proposals, Modification Work Orders, redline markups, and other approved changes while maintaining configuration control and traceability.
  • Support tabletop and hands-on VAL/VER events with maintainers, engineers, logisticians, and subject-matter experts.
  • Review technical publications for accuracy, quality, military standards compliance, safety information, illustrations, parts data, and distribution statements.

Requirements

  • MA/MS degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, Logistics, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 10 years of relevant technical publication, technical writing, engineering, logistics, or related experience.
  • Experience developing or sustaining military technical manuals and electronic technical publications.
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-40051, military technical-writing requirements, configuration management, baseline control, ECPs, MWOs, and VAL/VER activities.
  • Experience with XML/SGML tagging, DTDs, schemas, CGM, SVG, MACs, RPSTLs, LPD, and IADS or similar technical publication platforms.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Army Aviation technical publications and turbine engine systems.
  • Experience supporting ITEP/T901, T700, or T55 engine technical publications.
  • Experience with fielded systems, warfighter maintenance operations, XML/SGML data conversion, and structured publication environments.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering, maintenance, and logistics data into clear maintenance procedures and collaborate across technical stakeholder groups.
