Configuration Management & Documentation Specialist/Tech Writer

Location: Remote; travel may be required for meetings, training, presentations, or stakeholder briefings

What you will do

• Identify, control, record, audit, and report the status of configuration items.
• Maintain records for hardware, software, system configurations, documentation, and deliverables.
• Develop and update configuration standards, baselines, technical processes, and procedures.
• Support change-control processes and maintain documentation traceability.
• Maintain centralized CMDB information in accordance with ITSM practices.
• Coordinate configuration management activities and perform technical documentation quality reviews across project teams.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain the required VA background investigation, suitability determination, and system access.
• Bachelor’s or associate degree in an IT-related field, or an IAT III, IAM III, or IASAE III certification substitution.
• At least 5 years of IT experience, including 3 years of configuration management or technical editing experience in a large corporation or government agency.
• Experience with configuration and change management, technical documentation, ITSM practices, and centralized CMDBs.
• Experience working in project-oriented environments and understanding configuration management across the project lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related IT field.
• VA or federal technical documentation experience.
• ITIL certification.
• Experience with automated configuration or compliance tracking tools.
