Middle Market Underwriter, Sr.

Location: Fully onsite in San Diego, California at 4370 La Jolla Village Dr, Suite 300.

Salary: $98,000–$175,000 per year, with potential performance-based incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Underwrite new and renewal middle-market credit requests, including working capital lines, asset-based lending, commercial real estate loans, and equipment financing.
• Analyze business, industry, financial, and credit information to identify repayment risks and support credit recommendations.
• Prepare underwriting narratives, risk ratings, policy exception assessments, and accurate loan coding.
• Monitor borrower financial performance, spread financial statements, calculate covenants, and help resolve covenant violations.
• Collaborate with Client Solutions Managers and Relationship Managers on customer needs, loan structures, and customer or prospect calls.
• Review other underwriters’ credit reports, provide quality-control feedback, and coach or mentor colleagues.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of commercial underwriting, credit analysis, or relevant lending experience.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, credit, and credit-quality skills.
• Experience with accounting, financial statement spreading, and cash flow analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices, and documentation.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers and manage multiple priorities.
