Staff Reliability Engineer (IoT Hardware)

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a small reliability engineering team, setting priorities and reviewing test plans and results.
• Own the Design for Reliability program, including reliability targets, mission profiles, XFMEAs, test plans, and test execution.
• Define reliability test strategies across electrical, mechanical, thermal, environmental, and systems domains.
• Analyze reliability data with statistical tools and communicate actionable findings to engineering teams and leadership.
• Guide root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions with certification and design teams.
• Expand in-house testing capabilities, manage external testing facilities, and develop processes, tooling, and technical standards.

Requirements

• BS or MS in materials science, chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering, statistics, or a related engineering field.
• 8+ years of reliability engineering experience owning multidisciplinary reliability programs.
• Deep experience with XFMEA, reliability test planning and execution, and translating lab data into product requirements.
• Strong statistical analysis experience with DOE tests, reliability test data, and predictive reliability models.
• Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages for test automation, data logging, and analysis.
• Hands-on experience designing test rigs, using metrological instrumentation and environmental chambers, and handling equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with an installation partner.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring engineers and technicians or scaling an in-house reliability lab.
• Experience with high-voltage equipment up to 600–1000V, AC/DC power systems, and UL, NEC, IEC, or ISO standards.
• Experience with connected home, energy, or IoT hardware products.
• Knowledge of corrosion mechanics, material plating, IC degradation, and mission-profile testing.
