Senior Design & Release Engineer (DRE) - Interior Cockpit

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, validation, and launch of phone and iPad holders, cockpit trim, and injection-molded plastic mechanism systems.
• Define packaging, interfaces, kinematics, ergonomics, one-hand operation, and user interaction requirements.
• Integrate cockpit components with HVAC, body structures, soft trim, electrical systems, restraints, consoles, and other adjacent systems.
• Lead supplier and internal technical reviews, design and component integration reviews, and resolution of packaging and design issues.
• Define critical characteristics, validate mechanism performance, and review internal and external testing.
• Support prototype builds, DV/PV, launch readiness, quality and reliability targets, program milestones, and PPAP documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in automotive mechanism system engineering.
• Application-specific experience in at least three areas including mechanical mechanisms, interior FMVSS or IIHS validation, plastic part design and injection molding, and handheld-device HMI design.
• Experience with PLM systems, component release, and engineering change processing.
• Experience with NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, or other regulatory requirements.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams through technical tradeoffs, communicate effectively, and work in fast-paced startup and new-model launch environments.
