Junior Software Developer - Mission Control

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

hirify.global develops hirify.global Cloud, a cloud platform for provisioning, monitoring, and operating enterprise event broker services across public clouds and customer-managed environments.

What you will do

• Build and improve Java microservices and REST APIs for broker service lifecycle management, certificate management, DNS, and broker configuration.
• Contribute to the operations console while it is modernized with React micro-frontends.
• Help deploy and operate event brokers in customer-managed Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Investigate production issues using Datadog logs, metrics, and monitors, and deliver verified fixes.
• Write automated tests and contribute to epic-level quality plans.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code and collaborate with product, platform engineering, and support teams on customer issues.

Requirements

• Solid foundation in Java or a similar programming language, with willingness to work across backend, frontend, and pipelines.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs, relational databases, and automated testing.
• Curiosity about cloud infrastructure, including containers, Kubernetes, and public cloud services.
• Experience with AI technologies and coding-assistance tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Codex.
• Quality-focused mindset and strong communication skills for explaining failures, causes, and remediation plans.

Nice to have

• Experience with messaging systems such as hirify.global, Kafka, or RabbitMQ, or with event-driven architecture.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Helm, or Docker-based deployment.
• TypeScript and React experience.
• Familiarity with observability platforms such as Datadog or Grafana.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
