Intern – Software Development - 8 months - Hybrid Ottawa (Java/React)

Location: Hybrid in Ottawa, Canada; applicants must be located in Ottawa. This is an 8-month full-time internship starting January 4, 2027. No relocation.

Salary: CAD 23.00–28.00 per hour, based on education, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Design and develop new features for hirify.global Identity as a Service.
• Work with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.
• Design and code unit tests and test infrastructure to verify software functionality.
• Use Gradle, Git, Jira, Confluence, and other open-source tools.
• Set up development environments with Spring, Spring Boot, Docker, and AWS.
• Coordinate development activities with senior developers and the wider R&D team.

Requirements

• Enrollment in an undergraduate Computer Science or Software Engineering program.
• At least two years of completed coursework; the resume must indicate third- or fourth-year student status.
• Located in Ottawa and able to commit to an 8-month full-time internship.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, planning, communication, and writing skills.
• Ability to coordinate work within a software development team and consider the customer perspective.

Nice to have

• Experience programming in several languages and using Mac OS or Unix/Linux.
• Interest in authentication technologies including SAML, OIDC, OAuth, X.509, and smart cards.
• Interest in DevOps, AWS, and Docker.
• Understanding of object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Experience managing, building, and testing self-written code.
