Senior Digital Design Engineer (Mixed-Signal)

Location: Hybrid role based in the Edinburgh office, Scotland; candidates must live within a commutable distance or be willing to relocate to the United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Design and develop digital circuit architectures from concept and architecture through integration and production on advanced process nodes.
• Implement block-level testbenches and verify digital designs.
• Collaborate with engineers delivering complex mixed-signal products and intellectual property.
• Contribute to technical reviews and maintain IP quality through structured checklists.
• Supervise junior engineers and support the growth of the design team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in digital CMOS circuit design and implementation of complex RTL circuits and subsystems.
• Strong Verilog or SystemVerilog skills.
• Understanding of digital system-level design, standard bus protocols, bus architectures, and chip-level clock and reset architectures.
• Experience with block-level verification, synthesis, and timing analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical review skills.

Nice to have

• UVM-based verification, scripting, and design-task automation.
• Experience with AMBA, SPI, I2C, clock generation, multiple clock domains, power gating, and low-power design.
• Lab and silicon validation, chip bring-up and debug, linting, CDC, and RDC tools.
• Collaboration with DFT and place-and-route teams and experience with board-level interfaces.
• ARM or RISC-V microcontrollers, memory controllers, MATLAB-based DSP filter design, and signal analysis.
