Director of Engineering (SaaS)

Location: Berlin, Germany. The role is based in the Berlin office; working from abroad is available for up to 90 days worldwide as a temporary flexibility benefit.

What you will do

• Lead the engineering health and operations of approximately 13 cross-functional Product Engineering squads.
• Manage, coach, and develop up to six Senior Engineering Managers.
• Directly manage Engineering Architects and oversee product engineering talent.
• Improve team productivity by identifying issues in people, processes, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
• Set long-term engineering goals with Product Leadership and make success measurable across the organization.
• Handle exceptions and emergencies while establishing repeatable processes for future incidents.

Requirements

• Strong experience managing managers and coordinating multiple teams toward business goals.
• Several years of hands-on engineering experience.
• Several years of hands-on experience in the SaaS industry.
• Experience redesigning and iterating on organizational structures through successful change management.
• Ability to translate broad business objectives into achievable engineering goals.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes running on Google Cloud.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Go, TypeScript, React, Redux, CSS modules, Cypress, JavaScript, and shell scripting.
