Virtualization Engineer (VMware)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $80,000–$105,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and operate VMware-based virtualization platforms across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
• Manage software-defined networking and storage using vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria, and Tanzu.
• Develop automation and operational tooling with PowerCLI and related technologies.
• Manage platform capacity and support the operation of a large enterprise VMware estate.
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery patterns, including Site Recovery Manager.
• Troubleshoot issues across compute, network, and storage layers while collaborating with technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of hands-on VMware platform engineering experience; 6+ years of overall experience required.
• Deep expertise in vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi, plus hands-on experience with vSAN and storage policy management.
• Experience with NSX-T or NSX-V, PowerCLI scripting, automation tooling, and Tanzu Kubernetes Grid or VMware container platforms.
• Strong understanding of disaster recovery patterns and SRM, with excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Must be located in the United States and authorized to work as a U.S. Citizen, Green Card Holder, EAD Holder, or H-1B transfer candidate.

Nice to have

• VCP or VCAP certification.
• Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, AVS, GCVE, VMware Cloud Foundation, or Aria Operations.
• Exposure to migration programs from VMware to alternative virtualization platforms.
