Turbine Engine Engineer (Aerospace): Providing engineering and airworthiness support for turbine engine systems and subsystems across helicopter, unmanned air vehicle, and fixed-wing platforms with an accent on test evaluation, failure analysis, reliability, and flight safety. Focus on reviewing qualification evidence, investigating failures, assessing propulsion hardware and controls, and developing corrective actions for DoD aviation programs.
Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; travel up to 20% is required and limited to the United States.

What you will do
- Provide engineering support for turbine engine systems, subsystems, hydromechanical and electronic engine controls across helicopter, unmanned air vehicle, and fixed-wing platforms.
- Review test plans, test reports, analyses, requirements coverage, success criteria, risks, corrective actions, and post-test hardware condition.
- Assess design changes, engineering change proposals, technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and airworthiness concerns.
- Support failure investigations, procedure validations, reliability improvement, deficiency reporting, quality escapes, manufacturing review boards, and critical safety item activities.
- Support depot, repair, product verification, alternate source, spares procurement, product lot testing, and Defense Logistics Agency engineering activities.
- Document propulsion design and airworthiness qualification processes and prepare technical briefings, recommendations, and analyses for government use.
Requirements
- Engineering degree with substantial experience: B.S. with 25 years, M.S. with 23 years, or Ph.D. with 21 years; 18+ years of documented turbine engine and/or engine controls experience is also required.
- Experience with turbine engine design and development, manufacturing, maintenance, or operation, including mechanical component and system failure analysis.
- Documented experience in risk, statistical, reliability, data reduction, and engine or component performance analysis.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and parts lists and produce clear, concise technical reports and conclusions.
- Experience analyzing flight load survey data and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, and available for U.S.-only travel up to 20%.
Nice to have
- Experience with DoD aviation software and technical manual systems, including PDREP, TAMMS-A/MCDS, AED TTS, ETMs, or IETMs.
- Experience with T55-L-714, T700-GE-701, YT706-GE-700, or AE 1107C turboshaft engines.
- Experience with AWIS, SSRAs, System Safety Management Plans, FMECA/FEMA, and Safety Design Requirements Definition.
- Knowledge of thermal analysis, gas turbine thermodynamic and aerodynamic performance, and engine control systems.
