Senior Software Engineer (AI/Marketplace)

Location: US Remote — New Jersey; candidates within a 1-hour commute of the office may be expected to work onsite most of the time. Remote candidates may also be asked to attend an onsite interview during the final hiring stages.

What you will do

• Build buyer tooling for targeting, campaign management, budget controls, and analytics.
• Develop and optimize a real-time offer pricing, targeting, and ranking engine with Engineering and AI/ML partners.
• Improve seller workflows for pricing items and completing sales through PSA Partner Offers and eBay Consignment.
• Design and operate scalable microservices and distributed, event-driven systems serving millions of collectibles.
• Own projects from ambiguous problem definition through production delivery, instrumentation, and measurable outcomes.
• Coordinate cross-functional execution and integrate marketplace workflows with grading, collection management, vaulting, payments, logistics, and risk systems.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including designing, shipping, and scaling products from 0 to 1.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot skills, with full-stack experience in React and Svelte.
• Experience designing and operating microservices, Kafka-based event-driven architectures, Kubernetes workloads, and AWS infrastructure.
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or OpenTelemetry, including monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and distributed tracing.
• Strong written and verbal communication, systems thinking, customer focus, and end-to-end ownership.
• Ability to work legally in the United States is validated through e-Verify.

Nice to have

• Mobile development experience with Flutter and Dart.
• Passion for collecting.
