Senior Buyer

Location: Hybrid, with office-based work in Newcastle or Manchester, United Kingdom; travel to suppliers and project sites estimated at 10–15%

What you will do

• Act as the procurement partner for site infrastructure on large EPC high-voltage substation projects.
• Implement procurement processes during bid and project execution phases.
• Prepare and manage requests for quotations, including pricing and commercial negotiations.
• Define sourcing and supplier strategies for assigned commodities.
• Identify and manage supplier risks to reduce non-conformance costs.
• Manage strategic relationships with key framework partners and drive procurement improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• More than 5 years of procurement experience, particularly in large-scale EPC or infrastructure projects.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification or equivalent.
• Experience defining and executing sourcing strategies.
• Strong understanding of commercial terms and risks, including supplier contract review, negotiation, and drafting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with suppliers, project teams, and site stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to suppliers and project sites by approximately 10–15%.

Nice to have

• CIPS Level 5 qualification or working towards MCIPS.
