What you will do

  • Own the mechanical design and development of spacecraft structures, subsystems, and components from concept through flight.
  • Build complex 3D CAD models, assemblies, and production-ready engineering drawings using GD&T and applicable standards.
  • Perform structural analysis with FEA and hand calculations for launch and on-orbit environments.
  • Optimize designs for mass, structural performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
  • Support assembly, integration, qualification, and environmental testing, including static load, vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum tests.
  • Lead design reviews, investigate failures, resolve production issues, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and hardware development, preferably in aerospace, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or other complex hardware environments.
  • Experience owning complex hardware through design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and environmental qualification.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD, engineering drawings, structural mechanics, FEA, hand calculations, GD&T, and engineering drawing standards; NX experience is preferred.
  • Experience with aerospace materials and manufacturing processes, including machined, sheet metal, composite, or additively manufactured components.

Nice to have

  • Experience with spacecraft structures, mechanisms, payload hardware, or other spaceflight mechanical systems.
  • Experience with spacecraft assembly, integration, and testing and with resolving hardware issues on the production floor.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, NASA, or other aerospace standards.
