Текст:
TL;DR
Mechanisms Engineer (Spacecraft) (Aerospace): Owning spacecraft mechanism subsystems from concept through design, build, qualification, integration, and flight with an accent on structural and kinematic design, deployment systems, and hardware validation. Focus on analyzing load paths and deployment dynamics, executing vibration and thermal-vacuum testing, resolving manufacturing anomalies, and supporting spacecraft commissioning.
Location: On-site in Kent, Washington, United States. Applicants must be eligible to work under U.S. ITAR requirements.
Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually.
Company
Corporation develops modular satellites and space-based solar energy infrastructure for orbital power distribution, high-performance computing, and secure optical data transport.
What you will do
- Own a spacecraft mechanism subsystem from concept through design, analysis, testing, integration, and flight.
- Design hold-down and release mechanisms, solar array deployment and drive systems, deployable structures, or thermal and radiator articulation mechanisms.
- Perform structural, kinematic, fatigue, tolerance, finite element, and deployment dynamics analyses.
- Define and execute qualification and acceptance testing, including vibration, thermal-vacuum, deployment, and life testing.
- Create engineering drawings, CAD models, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and release documentation.
- Work with manufacturing and integration teams on the factory floor, troubleshoot hardware anomalies, and support launch-site operations and on-orbit commissioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience designing mechanisms or mechanical systems for spacecraft, launch vehicles, or high-performance hardware.
- Experience taking hardware from concept through build, integration, and test.
- Strong knowledge of structural mechanics, kinematics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo; engineering drawings must follow ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Proficiency with ANSYS, Nastran, or Abaqus for mechanism load-path and dynamic analysis. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, protected individual, or otherwise eligible under ITAR requirements.
Nice to have
- 10+ years of experience with spacecraft or high-performance flight hardware mechanisms.
- Experience with HDRMs, solar array deployment systems, spacecraft deployables, pyrotechnic devices, or non-explosive actuators.
- Hands-on prototyping, machining, and spacecraft thermal-environment experience.
- Experience in a fast-moving hardware startup or early-stage spacecraft program.
Culture & Benefits
- Equity in Corporation.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan, paid time off, and 10 paid holidays.
- Paid parental leave and relocation assistance if applicable.
- Daily office lunch and a stocked kitchen with beverages and snacks.
