Master Thesis Student in the field of Aerospace Engineering (d/f/m)

Location: Hamburg, Germany. Hybrid work with mobile working possible after agreement with the department. The thesis starts on 01.12.2026 and lasts 6 months.

hirify.global develops civil and defence aircraft and offers this thesis within the Airframe Architecture Department at its Hamburg production site.

What you will do

• Develop the preliminary structure design of a new-generation amphibious firefighter aircraft, focusing on the wing-to-fuselage attachment.
• Review similar aircraft and compare existing technical solutions to define suitable structural design principles.
• Perform trade-offs between structural concepts using a Design to Value approach.
• Create an Airframe Architecture Dossier documenting selected design solutions and their rationale.
• Define the airframe’s structural architecture while optimizing cost, weight, manufacturability, and repair speed.
• Develop 3D CATIA aircraft models and perform preliminary sizing of relevant joints.

Requirements

• Enrolled full-time in a master’s programme in Aerospace Engineering, with a focus on aeronautical lightweight structures, and completing up to five years of engineering studies.
• Fluent English is required.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a motivated master’s student and team member.

Nice to have

• Experience using CATIA V5.
• Ability to perform preliminary sizing of loaded structures.
• German or French language skills.
